Washington Eesti Selts presents “The Making of the Singing Revolution”

The Washington Estonian Society hosted an enlightening and entertaining virtual presentation on the “Making of Singing Revolution: The Musical on Sunday evening April 25, 2021.  Creator Tony Spinosa, a veteran Broadway director and choreographer, shares how he spent five years to research the actual events that occurred in Estonia from 1987-1991, and then developed it into an American Musical for the stage.

Chicago Estonian School presents at global conference on Estonian language education

Chicago Estonian School head teacher Maie Taits and incoming school director Karl Grabbi presented about the curriculum at the Estonian School in Chicago at a virtual conference held on April 21, 2021.

Come join our Landscaping Committee

The Chicago Estonian House has formed a Landscaping Committee to put together a comprehensive plan for the outdoor spaces that enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the grounds. From flowers and bushes to lighting and other hardscapes, we will look at what needs to be done to refresh the property. Ingrid Jaanson is leading this effort and if you would like to participate, please send her an email at: ijaanson@hotmail.com Meetings will be starting soon.

In memoriam

The Estonian House mourns the passing of our member Jaak Teetsov who passed away on April 8th. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. We would also like to thank the following people for memorial donations in Jaak Teetsov’s name ($385): Audrey Gioiosa, Matti Jaanimägi, Dick and Dina Peinert, and his daughters Lee Anne & Susan.
